My 16th Apology!

August 6, 2008

(sorry couldn’t help but use a song title as my title today!)

I feel like I have been slacking on posting here, and it’s true I have been slacking. I’ve been busy with various things that I seem to forget to post or just lack of inspiration at the moment. Personally I think its the latter and I am hoping that my vacation next week clears up any lack of inspiration.

So just a little update… I’ve been completely engrossed in reading Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer-  Book number 4 in the Twilight  series. Well…. all I will say at this point is that it is not my favorite and it lacks something for me. I loved the others… especially the first and third books. I’ve got about a 100 pages left. So with out further ramblings… I am going to go finish it and leave you with something that has me a little more inspired. The trailer to the first book- Twilight– coming to you December 12th!!! Love ya!

ps check out for my book review and also check out our August give away!!!

Are You There Vodka?

July 25, 2008

Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea
By Chelsea Handler

When Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power — vodka. You would too if you found out that your boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo or if you had to pretend to be honeymooning with your father in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea’s world — a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense.

In this hilarious, deliciously skewed collection, Chelsea mines her past for stories about her family, relationships, and career that are at once singular and ridiculous. Whether she’s convincing her third-grade class that she has been tapped to play Goldie Hawn’s daughter in the sequel to Private Benjamin, deciding to be more egalitarian by dating a redhead, or looking out for a foulmouthed, rum-swilling little person who looks just like her…only smaller, Chelsea has a knack for getting herself into the most outrageous situations. Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea showcases the candor and irresistible turns of phrase that have made her one of the freshest voices in comedy today.

OMG! This woman is just the funniest I have ever encountered! My sister and I religiously watch her show Chelsea Lately on E! Entertainment. This collection of short stories had me laughing out loud! She tells her life stories with a great sense of humor and no humility. She tells it like it is and takes no prisoners. Where to me some women comedians are REALLY crass and just not that funny, Chelsea is funny, smart, foul mouthed and just truly hilarious. I hope if I ever come back as a promiscuous comedian, I come back as a Chelsea Handler! If you want a fun, light quick read… this is perfect for the beach or just for fun… Pick this book up, get some vodka and cranberry and Enjoy!!!!

If I was on the Romantic Bites… I would give this 5 Dirty- Ass Martinis.. but instead I will give Ms. Handler 5 roses for entertaining the hell outta me!!

So I am sitting here in the last hour of work… not motivated to actually work. So I thought I would show everyone how GLAMOROUS I thought my life would be… and not this BORING 8-5 office non challenging job!

1.Dancer, 2. Teacher, 3.Marine Biologist, 4. Something with Books, 5.Violinist, 6. Hairdresser

How is everyone doin? Beating the heat?

I am ok… just really glad this week is over. We had a big event that I’ve been working on for months! It finally came and went in 20 Hours of work at the Venetian, but the client was happy and nothing went too horribly wrong! YAY!

I did have an interview on Tuesday and still hoping to hear back from them, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this one wasn’t meant to be… although I thought they seemed interested and the interview went flawlessly. It’s hard… I mean I thank my stars everyday that I have a job especially in this economy, but man what I would give to try something new… when I know there is no more growth here for me.

Well I don’t wanna be a “Debbie Downer” anymore… so have a great weekend! and here is a fun pic… just because and because I would rather be on a beach with a pile of good books!

Gone Baby Gone

Gone Baby Gone

Well I don’t know if you all know, but I love movies especially if they are based on books that I’ve read. It’s a favorite pastime of mine. Nerdy.. maybe but ehh thats me.

So anyways back to this movie… I wanna say first that I LOVED LOVED this book. It was so gritty and captivating. Loved all the characters, even if you wanted to hate them sometimes too. Well the movie did just about the same thing for me too. It was shot so well.. props to Ben Affleck and I am not even a fan of his. This movie was shot like the book was written… gritty! I mean it shows a not so pretty side of Boston, MA and just how human nature truly is. I will say this and have been for a long time that Casey Affleck always gets looked over, but he REALLY is the actor in that family. The only gripe I have about this movie and usually is when I’ve read the book… is I wish you got to know some of the supporting characters better.  I’m glad I finally got to see this movie.. now my only regret is that I never saw it in the theaters.

I don’t usually review movies.. but I am on this one… and I give it 4 roses!!

Leona Lewis

UK singer and songwriter Leona Lewis, a 22-year-old London native and winner of the hit TV show the X Factor, a British talent show, has broken all-time sales records there with Spirit entering the album chart at Number One and becoming Britain’s fastest-selling debut ever. In addition, Spirit’s lead-off single “Bleeding Love” — co-written and produced by OneRepublic frontman Ryan “Alias” Tedder — was the U.K.’s best-selling single of 2007.

OK … no wonder I love that song Bleeding Love because I love OneRepublic. I was so excited to get this cd just for that song. I will have to say… if you have not gotten it and REALLY like that song just buy the single. I’ve listened to this CD over and over, hoping it would grow on me like some usually do… and it hasn’t. I will say Leona has a beautiful voice, but on some of these songs she sounds WAY too much like Mariah Carey. (sorry I HATE Mariah) The music and the album just didnt do much for me. Sounded like everything else on R/B radio and just wasn’t up my expectations of Bleeding Love. So I am sad to say… I’ve taken this album off the Ipod and just left Bleeding Love.

You would swear that I don’t like anything! HA… Well I like you all and in case you haven’t been by.. go to and read my reviews along with the three other fabulous dolls! and comment. Thats all you need to do to enter in July’s drawing of $40 to Barnes and Noble!

Have a GREAT weekend. love yas!

I have a new review on Romantic Bites-!! Please check it out… and comment, you could win $40 in Fabulous Barnes and Noble Money!!! If I was allowed I would try! Ha!

Have a Great Day!

Sleeping Doll

July 8, 2008

The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver

“California Bureau of Investigation agent Kathyrn Dance, a kinesics expert and master interrogator, locks into a “dazzling mental contest” (The New York Times) with a modern-day Charles Manson in this heart pounding thriller.
Serving life in a maximum security for masterminding the slaughter of a wealthy Carmel family, the unrepentant Daniel Pell may also be linked to another killing, a cold case that will heay up quickly if Kathryn Dance can get the confession she seeks. But when Pell escapes, a harrowing manhunt takes off– and Kathryn will race to uncover the secrets of the past from the lone survivor of Pell’s bloodlust, a teenager now, the little girl who hid in her bed to save her own life: The Sleeping Doll.”

First, I have to say is, I really hope Jeffrey Deaver continues writing about Kathryn Dance. I really fell in love with her in the Lincoln Rhyme Book The Cold Moon  where she was just introduced as a specialist. Now Kathryn has had her day in the sun and WOW what a book! I really like the characters that Jeffrey Deaver has they are so real and you always want to know more about them. Kathryn in Cold Moon  was like that for me.

Well in this book she is on her home turf and has to deal with an escape from prison by a nasty sum- bitch, Daniel Pell. You learn about her family, her job and her past. She is interesting indeed and the lead agent on this nasty case.  I love female characters that are smart, have great families- although flawed, kick ass jobs and an awesome fashion sense. This girl loves her shoes and that makes her all the more enduring to me!There seems like there is a quasi crush love interest with a married man, but who is to say he won’t get a divorce in a future book!!  Anyways, just like any Jeffery Deaver book, you think its all gonna tie up with pretty bow at the end. OH no.. it has to be Big knotted crazy tied bow, with all the twist and turns this author puts in all his writing. Which of course is the reason I come back for more with him and have read just about everything he has published! With that… I give this book…. 5 roses for a job well done!!!

Ok I am not one to eat Jell-o but I do like colors!!! So I went on a search for something to make for dessert this holiday. I have yet to make this tasty treat… but it sounds so good I thought  I would share.

3 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 (8 oz.) pkg. Pillsbury crescent rolls
1 pt. fresh blueberries or thawed and drained frozen blueberries
1 qt. strawberries, cleaned, crushed and sweetened with 2 tbsp. sugar

Beat cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, vanilla and egg, beating thoroughly. Unroll 1 package of crescent rolls and evenly line bottom of ungreased 9×13 inch pan. Spread whole blueberries over crescent roll layer. Spoon cream cheese mixture evenly over the top.

Unroll second package of crescent rolls and place evenly over the top. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes, until crust is lightly browned. Cool on rack and cut into squares to serve. Spoon crushed strawberries over the top of each serving. Store in refrigerator. Makes about 12 servings.

Have a Safe and Hapy 4th everyone!!! Much love to you all!
